Acute Diabetes or Diabetes Mellitus
Acute diabetes is a chronic condition characterized by insulin resistance as a result, hyperglycaemia. Critically, this is reaching an epidemic level in most part of the world and primarily increasing throughout America, Asia-pacific region, including Asian and Australian populations. The risk factors that contribute to the development of acute diabetes include obesity, hypertension, sedentary lifestyle (diet), family history, cholesterol and the metabolic syndrome.
These factors in turn resulted abnormally high blood sugar level – hyperglycemia which may also leads to other symptoms such as excessive urine production (polyuria) or excessive thirst and increased fluid intake (polydipsia). With the increasing prevalence of diabetes, it results in premature mortality due to cardiovascular diseases or coronary heart disease, which posed as a major health treat to future generations.
The major risk factor – obesity is defined as a major risk factor for acute diabetes and it is classified based on body mass index (BMI) which is a better predictor measure of obesity. Global studies in Asia-pacific region, Europe and North America have proven that the increase of diabetes and cardiovascular diseases would have an increase in BMI. Studies have shown correlation between blood glucose level with BMI and Waist Hip Ratio (WHR). Where increase BMI and WHR was observed to increase dependently in accordance with blood glucose level.
In order to reduce cardiovascular diseases and allowing individual to lead a healthy lifestyle by controlling glucose level, many research and books have been published which target on weight loss program via diet control and exercise. However, very few have proven to be effective and certainly does not adopt a balance or insight for long run.
Research has found that the most effective way to prevent acute diabetes is to reduce body mass or weight of individual. However, this is easy say than done as every individual incorporates different genes and reacts differently to different program. The time taken for individual patient to lose weight differs due to different gene inheritance. Thus, different books and exercise regime are catered to different group of people in order to prevent weight gain and control glucose content in blood. In order to provide better insight for individual who suffers from acute diabetes or would love to get their loves one out from the acute diabetes circles or obesity, the following books are recommended:
