Diabetes or diabetes mellitus as referred in scientific terms is a disease where the person suffers from high blood sugar because the body couldn’t produce insulin or the body stops responding to insulin. When a person suffers from high blood sugar he/she typically experiences frequent urination, hunger and thirst. People with this disease has to follow strict diet plans in order to remain healthy. Intake of sugar should be gradually reduced and sugar substitutes such as Stevia should be consumed. There are various types of diabetes and those recognized by the World Health Organization are Type-1 Diabetes, Type-2 Diabetes, Gestational Diabetes, Bronze Diabetes and Diabetes Insipidus.
Types-1
The Type-1 diabetes or insulin independent is usually one that affects young adults and it is not very common. The main cause of it might be the failure to produce insulin by the pancreas. The symptoms could be thirst, polyuria, weight loss and dieresis.
Types-2
Type-2 diabetes is more common and there have been more than 80% of such cases around the world. This type is mostly found in elderly people as it develops over a period of time. In such type there is a deficiency of insulin in the blood and the body becomes unable to utilize insulin as well. Since the appearance of this type of diabetes is very slow, people generally fail to detect it on time until long-term complications start occurring.
Gestational-Mellitus
Gestational diabetes occurs when to a woman during pregnancy and once the child is delivered, it disappears. Almost 35 of pregnant women suffer from this type of diabetes and also there is a risk that it might develop permanently to the patient at a later period of life.
Bronze-diabetes
Bronze diabetes is a condition of the body where it consumes more quantity of iron from food than necessary. These might be because of the presence of a certain kind of gene in the body and this might also revolve into destroying numbers of organs in the body. Such types become apparent only after 40 years of age and few symptoms of it are joint pain, fatigue, tanning of skin, erectile dysfunction, thirst and loss of body hair.
Diabetes-Insipidus
The human body consumes lots of water during the day and most of the water is reabsorbed while only a few concentrated amounts are urinated. Diabetes Insipidus occur when larger amounts of dilute urine are excreted. This type of diabetes can happen due to damage the pituitary gland, which might occur due to various reasons such as head injury, decreasing blood supply to the glands, surgery, tumor, infection or genetic problems.
There are various causes of diabetes and one of them that can be considered as the risk factor is obesity. People who are overweight tend to suffer from type-2 diabetes more often than those who are lean and active. Studies show that when one reduces 10kg weight, it can reduce blood sugar level to almost 50md/dl. So, it is important that one maintain herbal life by using products made of herbs and perform regular exercises.
